How the coaching works

Coaching is a working relationship. You set the agenda each time, and it can be as narrow as a conversation you need to have next week or as broad as whether you still want this career.

A marketing leader in gaming whose role went in a restructure, working out what they want next and how to position themselves for it, with someone alongside them through the search.

Someone in tech who is ready for more scope and cannot see where it will come from, working out how to make the case internally and whether to make it somewhere else.

A marketing director who has just taken on a large team, including people who were peers a month ago, and is working out how to lead them without pretending nothing has changed.

Someone a few months into a new company, learning a different culture and a new leadership team, and working out how to establish themselves without losing what made them good at the last place.

What people bring

The sessions

Step 1

Step 2

Intro Call

Discovery Session

30 MINUTES ยท NO CHARGE

90 MINUTES

We talk about the situation you are in and whether I am the right person for it. There is no obligation. If I am not the right fit I will tell you, and where I can I will point you toward someone who might be.

The first working session. It runs longer because there is more ground to cover: where you have come from, what you want, what would need to change for this to have been worth doing, and how the two of us will work together.

Step 3

Coaching Sessions

60 MINUTES

Every session after that, held remotely. You can reach me between sessions when something comes up that will not wait. Sessions are in English or Italian, whichever lets you think more freely.

Three ways to work together

Engagements are built around how much work is in front of you, and we set the pace together.

Meeting weekly moves faster; every two weeks leaves more room for things to land.

SIX SESSIONS

A discovery session plus five. This suits a situation with a clear shape to it: an offer on the table, a decision about whether to stay, a conversation you have been putting off. We use the early sessions to get clear on what you actually want, and the rest on how you are going to act on it.

Depending on the pace, these run between two and nine months. After any engagement, some people carry on with a single session a month, for as long as it is useful.

TEN SESSIONS

A discovery session plus nine. The one I recommend most often, and it suits someone stepping into a bigger role or finding their footing again after a hard year. There is time to work through a change and then stay with it while it settles, which is usually where the difficulty sits.

FIFTEEN SESSIONS

A discovery session plus fourteen. For a longer piece of work, when a great deal is happening at once, or when what you are working on is not a decision but a change in how you lead. That takes longer, and it needs practice between sessions as much as conversation during them.

What it costs

Individual engagements start at €960, paid upfront or in instalments across the engagement.

Employer sponsored coaching is quoted individually. If your company funds development it is worth asking, because many do and most people never think to.

Questions

  • A mentor tells you what they would do. A coach asks the questions that get you to your own answer.
I lead with coaching. What my career in this industry adds is sharper questions, because I know what a restructure does to a team and what a bigger role actually costs. Where something I have been through would genuinely help you, I will say it, after your own thinking rather than before it.

  • That is one of the situations I work with most. If you are out of work and paying for this yourself, say so on the intro call. I keep a small number of places at a reduced rate each year.

  • Often, yes. Many companies have a development budget that covers coaching and most people never think to ask. If your employer funds it, we agree at the start what they hear about the work, and it is never the content of our conversations.

  • Tell me. We will change how we are working, or pause, or stop. Life gets in the way of these things, and I would rather know early than have you sit with it.

  • Completely. Nothing you say goes anywhere, including to an employer who is paying.

  • Probably, yes. I work most often with people in tech, gaming and entertainment because that is where I spent my career and where I need no explaining. But the work itself travels, and I have no interest in turning away someone I can help. If you are close to this rather than exactly this, book the call and we will find out.

  • Engagements are quoted individually, depending on which of the three you have in mind. Tell me when you get in touch and I will send you the rates before we speak.

Start with a conversation

Thirty minutes, at no cost and with no obligation. We talk about what is going on, and decide together whether it makes sense to continue.
